Lights Out, Game On: A Bespoke Bedroom and Gaming Room
AL MAMZAR
A Dubai bedroom with a double life: serene when the lights go down, electric when the game goes on.
Most bedrooms are asked to do one thing well. This one was asked to do two, and neither was allowed to compromise. By day and by night, it is a calm, beautifully finished retreat. When the mood changes, it becomes something a good deal livelier.
The calm comes from the walls. Cladding gives the room texture and depth, so it never needs much else to feel finished. Mirrors catch the light and move it around the space, which makes the room feel larger and softer. The custom lighting is layered so that it is very easy to change the mood of the room.
Bespoke cabinetry and storage hold the whole arrangement together. Consoles, controllers, cables, clothes, and accessories each have a home, and everything disappears behind clean joinery. A bedroom with a gaming setup usually looks like a compromise. This one looks like a decision.
The custom gaming desk is the room’s other centrepiece. It is built around the owner’s equipment, and its sound insulation muffles the sounds of a late session so the rest of the house can continue sleeping.
Everything here was custom made: designed in our studio, built in our factory and installed by our own team. That is why the cabinetry sits flush, the lighting behaves and the desk takes the whole setup without complaint.
